A new book has been published on the life and spirituality of the Venerable Maria Celeste Crostarosa O.Ss.R., the Foundress of the Redemptoristines.

Sr. Gabrielle O.Ss.R., the Prioress of the Monastery of St Alphonsus asked Honor McCabe to write this book.

Sr Gabrielle wrote the Epilogue to the Book.

?????The Sisters of the Monastery of St Alphonsus are pleased to announce the publication of a new book on the life and spirituality of the foundress of the Redemptoristine Order – the Venerable Maria Celeste Crostarosa.

Maria Celeste is still little known even by those who are familiar with the Redemptoristine Sisters. She founded the Order in 1732 in Scala, Italy and gave it its unique spirituality of ‘the living memory’ of the Redemption.

The author of this study, Sister Honor McCabe OP, was impressed by the fact that much of Maria Celeste’s mystical doctrine resembled the teaching on prayer of saints already Doctors of the Church, Teresa of Avila and Catherine of Siena.

The icon which appears on the cover of the book was written by Sr Alena here in the Monastery.
