Contemplatives continue to write Icons

The Redemptoristines hosted an Icon Retreat for Contemplatives. Redemptoristines, a Poor Clare and a Dominican completed a week of writing Icons under the guidance of Icon Master Mihai Cucu. We were delighted to have Sr. Gabrielle, from The Poor Clares in Ennis, Co. Clare, and Sr. Ann Marie from the Dominicans in Drogheda for a most enriching week of writing icons. Sr Gabrielle, Prioress of the Redemptoristines in Ireland and the Community joyfully welcomed the newly elected Superior General Rev. Fr. Michael Brehl, C.Ss.R, for the Redemptorists on the 18th February 2009. Fr. Brehl was accompanied by Fr. Michael Kelleher, C.Ss.R, Provincial in Ireland, Fr. Stan Wróbel, and Fr. João Pedro Fernandes. We wish Fr. Brehl God’s blessing as he sets out on this exciting and challenging journey as Superior General. Fr. Brehl is standing beside Sr. Gabrielle in the centre – second row.

The sisters in the Monastery of St Alphonsus make Altar Breads, write icons, make cards, and now we make candles from start to finish. Sr. Evina is our candle maker. We make candles for Baptisms, First Communion, Confirmation, Weddings and special occasions. Sr. Evina will personalize the candle for you. Here are some samples. They are for sale. Sr Evina’s father and mother travelled from Slovakia to be with Evina on this very special day of taking her first vows. The Chief Celebrant was Rev. Fr. Michael Kelleher C.Ss.R Provincial of the Redemptorists in Ireland and Sr Gabrielle Prioress received Sr. Evina’s vows.

Sr Maura’s Profession

We celebrated a most wonderful day on the 21st of February, when Sr Lucy made her first official commitment to God in First Profession. Fr. Michael Kelleher, C.Ss.R. Provincial was chief celebrant while Sr. Gabrielle received Sr Lucy’s vows. Sr Lucy’s mother and family travelled from Offaly for the special occasion and enjoyed the day immensely.
